Billy has had his Honda Civic since he got home from his mission..8 years ago! His car was 12 years old, had 166,000 miles, and the A/C recently went out....it was time to sell and get something different. Many people didn't think we'd be able to sell it w/ comments like, "It's a piece of junk." We kept saying, "It's a Honda...it'll sell!" Well...the Silver Bullet is no more. Since we started dating Billy and I have had virtually the same car. We figured it was about time that we sell one and upgrade to a more "family car." Billy sold his car this past weekend. Although old, it served its purpose, made many trips to CA, and never had any problems. It was a great car, esp. when we were newly married w/ no money. Billy will be riding his bike to work for awhile. We were sad to see it go, but are excited about the prospect of a newer vehicle; for now, we're a one car family until further notice.

1 Happy Girl!
For Ryan's 6 mo. birthday (Sunday, Aug. 23) we let her start eating baby food. She loves it! She's eaten bananas, applesauce, carrots, and sweet potatoes. I have heard so many different ways to feed a baby food....vegetables first, mix fruit and veggies, etc. Billy and I decided that we would alternate fruit, veggie, fruit, etc. Ryan did fine with rice cereal and is a good eater so we weren't very worried. Ryan has done great with baby food and has eaten everything we've given her...so far!

Another Great Read

I finished this book a few weeks ago and forgot to blog about it until now. Billy and I went to a special Enrichment for couples that our stake put on back in May. They had various workshops that couples could go to that focused on finances, food storage, gardening, emergency preparedness, etc. At the financial workshop a woman talked about this book and how much she loved reading it. For those who don't know, I love finances. I'm the one that pays the bills, does the taxes (w/ help from my dad), manages the budget, does the investing (of course after talking everything over w/ Billy), etc. So when I heard about this book I was all over it. The book talks about 9 steps that can lead you to financial freedom. It had some really good ideas about how to reach your personal goals. Yes, it's a "finance" book, but if you're in the mood, I definitely recommend it.

Family Staycation
Before school started again for Billy we decided that our family needed some alone time to relax and spend time together. We spent 2 wonderful days at the Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix. We left on Wed. after work (7/29) and stayed until Friday (7/31). The resort had a water park attached and we spent all day Thursday hanging out there.
Ryan loves water. At church she will stare at the water fountain after you get a drink.....usually resulting in a little play time touching the water as it comes out.
Ryan is getting so big and it is a lot of fun watching her interact and seeing her personality. She is tons of fun and we absolutely love her. I am so grateful to our Heavenly Father for giving her to us. Our staycation was rejuvenating after a very eventful summer. Billy started school yesterday and has been busy w/ students, teaching, etc. I now get to stay home and love it. Billy will start his last class for his masters degree soon and will graduate in Dec. Summer has flown by and we're looking forward to a great rest of the year!
