Getaway With The Hubby + Dani

Every year in June Billy’s works hosts a husband/wife convention where they plan a wonderful day for each couple to spend together. This was the first year in many that they planned an overnight getaway. It was fabulous. Billy and I (along with cute little Dani) headed up to Flagstaff early Thursday morning (6/14). When we arrived in Flagstaff we headed to Walnut Canyon where we hiked around some ruins. It was amazing to see how these people lived hundreds of years ago, esp. on the side of a cliff. That night we enjoyed a yummy dinner and activity. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot that night. Friday morning (6/15) we headed to NAU where they have a ropes course. Here are some pictures of the event:

Billy and I started climbing this ladder (each gap gets progressively greater in distance; when you’re short like me, Billy had to help me get up the second one). I bailed after only 2 b/c it was hard and I’m terrified of heights. After all was said and done, Billy said it was the hardest thing there. I felt a little better.

At the top of the ladder, with another guy whose wife didn’t want to do it either.

So, we did this instead. It’s a partner climb. I was scared, but kept trying to pump myself up the whole time.

Billy was awesome at helping calm my fears. It felt great to climb it.

We also did a rock climbing wall as well. Billy did a “leap of faith” where you climb up a pole, stand on top, and jump to a bar. Billy did it; caught hold of the bar, and didn’t seem scared at all….But if you know anything about Billy, no surprise.

We headed home after lunch and it was so great to see Ryan. My sister Natalie watched her while we were gone and I’m so grateful to her. It was nice to be able to leave and know she was well taken care of. We missed her like crazy. The convention was fun and it was great spending some time with Billy. I love him.

I Had A Birthday!

May 31 marked another birthday for me. I’m 27! Friends asked what I was doing to which I replied, “Not much…having fun with my girls, out to dinner tonight.” They replied, “Doing something this weekend?” My reply, “No.” I love my birthday. I love my kids birthdays. I love holidays. I love celebrating and while I didn’t do anything extravagant, it was a wonderful day. I took Ryan to swim class and enjoyed my cute little girls while Billy was at work. When Billy got home we went to Joe’s Farm Grill for dinner which was absolutely delicious. My sister dropped by with her cute kids in the morning and I got lots of phone calls. It was a great day!

Not taken on my birthday, but couldn’t resist this cute face. She’s 8 months in the picture.

Blocks= Hours of Play

We invested in these blocks about a year ago and they have been worth every penny. Ryan LOVES building with them and I love seeing her imagination at work. We typically have “Pony Land” all over our living room with roads going all over the place. Billy and Ryan made this pony castle one Sunday morning, monsters included.

Dani Girl: 8 months

Dani loves to be anywhere Ryan is, and loves to play with Ryan’s toys. She was so excited to go for a ride…thought she was so big and cool.
