Every year in June Billy’s works hosts a husband/wife convention where they plan a wonderful day for each couple to spend together. This was the first year in many that they planned an overnight getaway. It was fabulous. Billy and I (along with cute little Dani) headed up to Flagstaff early Thursday morning (6/14). When we arrived in Flagstaff we headed to Walnut Canyon where we hiked around some ruins. It was amazing to see how these people lived hundreds of years ago, esp. on the side of a cliff. That night we enjoyed a yummy dinner and activity. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot that night. Friday morning (6/15) we headed to NAU where they have a ropes course. Here are some pictures of the event:
Billy and I started climbing this ladder (each gap gets progressively greater in distance; when you’re short like me, Billy had to help me get up the second one). I bailed after only 2 b/c it was hard and I’m terrified of heights. After all was said and done, Billy said it was the hardest thing there. I felt a little better.
At the top of the ladder, with another guy whose wife didn’t want to do it either.
So, we did this instead. It’s a partner climb. I was scared, but kept trying to pump myself up the whole time.
Clutching this tiny bolt.
Billy was awesome at helping calm my fears. It felt great to climb it.
We also did a rock climbing wall as well. Billy did a “leap of faith” where you climb up a pole, stand on top, and jump to a bar. Billy did it; caught hold of the bar, and didn’t seem scared at all….But if you know anything about Billy, no surprise.
We headed home after lunch and it was so great to see Ryan. My sister Natalie watched her while we were gone and I’m so grateful to her. It was nice to be able to leave and know she was well taken care of. We missed her like crazy. The convention was fun and it was great spending some time with Billy. I love him.
